Mario Abbadessa joined Hines in 2010 and was appointed Managing Director of Hines Italy in 2015, assuming the responsibility of Country Manager for the Group’s operations in Italy. In March 2019, at the age of 35, he was appointed Senior Managing Director of Hines Italy by Hines Global Board, being the youngest manager in the Group to achieve this title. Mario holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University and a Master of Science in Real Estate Finance from the University of Amsterdam.Since 2015, Mario has been responsible for the successful investment of over €2bn in the historical center of Milan and Florence and has established a team of 30 people. Among the Group’s major transactions, Mario has led the acquisition, and subsequent thorough regeneration, of several trophy assets in Milan, such as Piazza Cordusio, Via Orefici, Piazza del Liberty and Via della Spiga – all mixed-use retail and office.

Mr Barlafante had a first experience in the Finance Department of the “Aeroporti Milano” Company and in the Company Pension Fund which included all the Companies of the group.

He participated in the establishment of PrevAer, the National Pension Fund, dedicated to air transport workers, holding various positions up to being appointed in the year 2013 as General Manager and Head of the Finance Department.

He has over twenty years of experience in the world of supplementary pensions, non-profit social security and bilateral bodies, which has allowed me to acquire skills in economy, financial social and relational fields.

FRANCO BASSANINI

Franco Bassanini,  former  Italian Cabinet  Minister  for  Public Administration (1996-2001) and Professor of Constitutional Law in the University of Rome, is now Chairman of Astrid Foundation and of the executive board of Open Fiber Inc. He is member of the advisory boards of Confindustria, of FFA (Fédération française des Assurances) and of FeBAF (Federazione Banche Assicurazioni Finanza), and Honorary Chairman of the Long-Term Investors’ Club. He has been Chairman of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (2008-2015) and member of the Italian Parliament (1979-2006), of the ENA Executive Board (2001-2005) and of the Attali Committee. He is author of 19 books and 400 papers in constitutional law, public policies, European law and finance.

JOSE BRENA

Head of Non Core Asset Management UniCredit

José was born in Lima (Peru). He graduated from Tufts University in the USA with a double major in Economics and Biology. He began his professional career at Irving Trust Company (now Bank of NY) where he held positions in the Energy and Mineral Department and Project Finance Department. He subsequently joined GE Capital where he held multiple positions, including as the leaderof the GE Capital Strucutured Finance Group Activities in Europe. In 2000, José joined TD Capital Communications Partners, opening their London office and thereafter joined Royal Bank of Scotland as Deputy Head of Special Lending Services, RBS’ restructuring business.

in 2006, José joined NewSmith Financial Products LLP where he was a Partner. He joined UniCredit, in 2008when UniCredit acquired Newsmith and has since held multiple positions in UniCredit including Head of Group Special Credit, overseeing UniCredit’s restructuring activities and Head of Group Distressed Asset Solutions, responsible for development and executition of strategies regarding the sale of impaired assets and ventures to manage impaired assets under alternative structures.

Today, José is head of Non Core Asset Management responsible for UniCredit’s Non Core portfolio as well as Group Distressed Asset Solutions.

Mirko Briozzo is Deputy General Manager and Chief Business Officer at Credito Fondiario.

Mirko is part of the team that acquired Credito Fondiario in 2013, repositioning it as specialised NPE investor, servicer and credit manager in Italy. Between 2013 and 2017 Mirko held the position of Chief Financial Officer and also sat on the Board of the bank.

Mirko has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, focusing primarily on M&A and capital markets in the financial institutions sector. Between 2004 and 2011 Mirko worked in Citi’s investment banking team, lastly holding the position of Managing Director with responsibility for the investment banking coverage of Italian banks, insurers and asset managers. Previously Mirko worked in the investment banking arms of Schroders, NBGI and Fox-Pitt, Kelton.

Mirko graduated in Economics at Milan Bocconi University, with a dissertation on international monetary policies.

Previously a partner at Grimaldi & Associati from 2000 to 2001, and at Clifford Chance from 2001 to 2009, Paolo Calderaro is expert on structured finance (inter alia, loans guaranteed by collateral, securitisations and covered bonds, synthetic risk transfer arrangements, assignments of performing and non-performing receivables), and insolvency procedures. He has vast experience in advising different sorts of clients, such as arrangers, originators, and issuers, in securitisations of NPLs (non-performing loans), CMBS (Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities) RMBS (Residential Mortgage Backed Securities), trade receivables, finance lease receivables, public-sector and healthcare receivables.
He has also advised arrangers on a variety of issues in domestic and foreign law regarding bonds, and has represented some of the largest investment banks on project finance transactions. In addition to structured finance transactions, he also focuses upon restructurings, risk management and insolvency litigation.

Mr Cavazzutti is Head of the NPE Unit of Banca Carige SpA based in Genoa. Prior to joining Banca Carige in 2017, he was Head Office Manager at Banca Popolare di Bari. Iacopo De Francisco is General Manager of Credito Fondiario.

With over 20 years of experience in consulting and financial sectors, Iacopo started his career at Credito Emiliano in 2000 where he was appointed Head of Retail Banking and Deputy General Manager. In 2002, he joined the strategic consulting firm McKinsey & Co. where he remained for 10 years, becoming partner of the firm.

In 2012 Iacopo moved to Banca Popolare di Milano as Chief Commercial Officer, then, in 2015, he moved to Banca Popolare di Vicenza as Chief Business Officer and Deputy General Manager of the bank. He joined Credito Fondiario in April of 2017 as General Manager.

Iacopo graduated with a degree in Management from Bocconi University, where he also obtained a PhD.

Born in Florence in 1967. Matteo Del Fante is married and has two children. He graduated in Economics from Bocconi University in Milan.
He has attended specialization courses in international financial markets at the Stern Business School, New York University.
He began his career at JP Morgan in 1991 in the Research Department and then held various offices in Milan and London before being appointed Managing Director in 1999.
In his last position at JPMorgan he was in charge of EMEA (Europe-Middle East – Africa) Public Sector clients until 2003.
In 2004 he joined the newly privatized Cassa depositi e prestiti S.p.A. (CDP) as Head of Finance and M&A, launching in the following years CDP’s Real Estate practice and becoming CEO of the Group’s asset management company in 2009 (CDP Investimenti SGR S.p.A.), where he then took the President office until August 2014.
From June 2010 until May 2014 he was Managing Director of CDP. He also served as a Board Member of several companies of CDP Group, including STM Microelectronics (both in STMicroelectronics N.V. – from 2005 until 2008 -, and in STMicroelectronics Holding – from 2008 until 2011-) and in the European Energy Efficiency Fund (EEEF) from 2011 until 2013.
From May 2014 until April 2017 he was CEO and Managing Director of Terna S.p.A., where he held the office of Director on the Board of the Company since April 2008 and was a member of the Control and Risk Committee until May 2014.
Furthermore, from June 2015 to April 2017 he served as Vice-President of ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity.
Since April 2017 is Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Poste Italiane and since July 2017 is Chief Executive Officer of Poste Vita.

ALESSANDRO FRACASSI

Mr. Fracassi graduated cum laude from the Milan Polytechnic Institute in 1994 with a degree in management engineering. Between 1994 and 1996 he worked as a consultant for Booz, Allen & Hamilton Italia Ltd., focusing on the aerospace industry, and in 1997 he held a summer associate position at BZW – Barclays De Zoete Wedd in London. In 1998, he earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he studied financial engineering and served as an assistant to Operations professor Charles H. Fine.

From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Fracassi worked as a strategic consultant in the operations practice of the Chicago office of Booz, Allen & Hamilton Inc., where he became a senior associate in 1999. In 2000, he and Mr. Pescarmona founded Gruppo MutuiOnline, in which Mr. Fracassi currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Group. Gruppo MutuiOnline was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange on 6 June 2007.

Today, Gruppo MutuiOnline is the Italian leader in online distribution of financial and insurance products, and it’s a leading player in outsourced services for credit origination and portfolio servicing, back office administration for investment companies and insurance claims processing. In 2015,  for his contribution as CEO of Gruppo MutuiOnline, Mr Fracassi has been awarded the “EY-Entrepreneur Of The Year” title in the “Innovation & Engineering” category.

Since 2008, Mr Fracassi is member of the Advisory Board of the MIT Sloan School of Management. He is founder and board member of Endeavor Italy, the Italian chapter of non-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship, operating in 25 different countries, and also board member of A2A the largest Italian multi-utility company at the forefront in energy, environment, heating, and distribution networks.

Filippo has more than 25 years of private equity experience. He began working in private equity as a vice president within the private equity division of Banca Commerciale Italiana. After four years Filippo moved to The Carlyle Group in Milan as a director where he was also involved in setting up the Italian private equity business.

He then spent nine years working at Investitori Associati where he was promoted to senior partner in 2008; during this period, he helped set up the Italian business, was involved in fundraising and led a number of transactions.

Before joining Progressio in July 2011 as Managing Partner, Filippo was senior partner at Investindustrial and collaborated with UK and Italian private equity funds both as deal originator and potential investor.

During his career he completed more than 30 transactions in sectors of Italian excellence.

Paolo Gallo is Chief Executive Officer and General Manager at Italgas since 4 August 2016. He received his degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin. He subsequently earned a MBA from Turin University. From 2014 to 2016 he was the Chief Executive Officer of Grandi Stazioni S.p.A, of which he oversaw the privatization. Previously (from 2011 to 2014) he worked at Acea S.p.A., firstly as Chief Operating Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer. From 2002 to 2011 he was in the Edison Group, initially as Head of Strategy and Innovation, then as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Edipower.

He started his career in Fiat Avio S.p.A. in 1988, holding several roles and responsibilities over 13 years. In 1997 he began working in the energy field, developing new initiatives in Italy, India and Brazil and subsequently he recollected all Fiat Group’s electricity generation activities in Fiat Energia, of which he was Chief Executive Officer until 2002.

Between 1992 and 1993 he was dean of the MBA programme at the School of Business Administration of the University of Turin, where he lectured “Industrial Investmens Economical-Financial evaluations” until 2002. He is also co-author of relevant publications in the sector. Since 2018 he has been Professor of Re-engineering Operational Processes (Master Digital Ecosystem) and Energy Management (Master Energy Industry) courses at the Luiss Business School.

Full Professor of Corporate Finance at LIUC Cattaneo University. She is Director of the Master Degree in Merchant Banking and Private Capital.

She is Director of Center for Development and Innovation of LIUC Business School. She chairs the Scientific Committee of the Private Equity Monitor – PEM Observatory and the Venture Capital Monitor – VEM Observatory, active in the same University.

GIOVANNI GILLI

Giovanni Gilli, born in Milan on January 8, 1954, graduated with honors in Economics from Bocconi University, married with three children, is presently Charmain of Intrum Italy, the newly established joint-venture between the Intrum Group and Intesa Sanpaolo in the field of servicing of Non Performing Loans.

Previously, reporting directly to the CEO, Giovanni worked for Intesa Sanpaolo Group (ISP) from 2002 to 2018, where since November 2014 he was the Head of Capital Light Bank (CLB), a newly established Business Unit with a headcount over 700, with the aim of managing the deleverage of a significant portfolio of non-core assets, including non-performing loans, repossessed properties, business units held for sale, financial participations, performing non-core portfolios. Total managed assets exceeded € 50 bill., more than half of which were reduced over the ’14-’17 Group Industrial Plan. During 2018 he promoted and finalized a landmark strategic partnership in the NPL field between ISP and the Swedish Intrum, European leader in credit recovery, implying a full integration of the two domestic recovery platforms and the disposal of a huge NPL portfolio.

Up to November 2014, Giovanni was in ISP Head of the Strategic Operations and Special Projects Unit responsible for all M&A and Corporate Developments activities of the Group, as well as the management of projects of particular strategic importance. In this context, over 50 deals were finalized for a total value in excess of €30 billion, in addition to the successful achievement of the merge between Intesa and San Paolo in 2006, in which Giovanni played a key role.

He previously worked at The Chase Manhattan Bank, McKinsey & Co., Euromobiliare and successfully conducted, as CEO of the Gabbianelli-Vogue Group, a Leveraged Buy-Out deal for the creation of a leading market player in the field of high-end ceramic tiles, accomplished with important value creation through the sale of the Group to a direct competitor.

BENEDETTO GIUSTINIANI

Benedetto Giustiniani is the Head of Generali Real Estate’s Southern Europe Region since July 2018, and he also oversees the asset management & letting operations in the Region ad interim.

In his role, he is tasked with managing the relationship with the Generali Group’s Chief Investment Officers in Italy and Spain, providing portfolio management advisory on local direct real estate investments, ensuring a smooth execution of local investment and divestment processes, scouting the market and originating deals in line with the portfolio strategies.

A professional with 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, Benedetto joined the Generali Group in 2006 as Portfolio Manager, before moving to fund management and becoming Head of Business Unit Third Parties Funds. In 2013 he became Head of Fund Management for Generali Real Estate SGR. He began his career working as a project manager for several real estate companies.

Through the years he has sit in the advisory committees of several Italian funds managed by Prelios SGR, Hines SGR, Investire SGR, Coima SGR and others.

Benedetto Giustiniani holds a Degree in Architecture from Venice’s IUAV University and has attended The Executive Management Program in International Real Estate from ESSEC Business School/SDA Bocconi/RE-BS Immobilienakademie International Real Estate Business School.

Claudio Graziano holds a degree in Economics and he is a Member of the Accountants’ register. He is the Head of Welfare of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, which he joined in 1980. He holds various top positions in the collective bodies of welfare institutions of the Group. Among others, he is the Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s benefit Pension Fund and he is also the Vice President of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s Pension Fund, the reference Fund for the employees of the Group, with approximately 75 thousand members and more than 6,3 billion euros assets.

Born in Naples on May 22, 1961, Luigi Gubitosi studied at the London School of Economics and obtained a Law degree at Naples University and a Master in Business Administration at I.N.S.E.A.D. Fontainebleau (France).

He has been Vice Chairman of Confindustria Servizi Innovativi e Tecnologici (CSIT) and of Asstel and a member of the Tax and Corporate Governance Committee of Confindustria. He has been member of the Organising Committee for the Turin 2006 Chess Olympiade and member of the Board of Directors of Cometa (Pension Fund of metal workers), F2i Sgr e Maire Tecnimont.

From 1986 to 2005 he held several offices within the Fiat Group: Chief Financial Officer, Administration Director and Group Treasurer; he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fiat Partecipazioni and member of the  Board of Directors of Fiat Auto, Ferrari, Iveco, Itedi, Comau and Magneti Marelli. In 2005 he joined Wind Telecomunicazioni as Chief Financial Officer, being appointed CEO from 2007 to 2011.

From November 2011 to July 2012 he was Country Manager and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Italy. From July 2012 to August 2015 he has been General Manager of RAI. He has been Chairman of the European Advocacy Committee of the CFA Institute and Independent Director of TIM S.p.A. from May to November 2018. In November 2018 he has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Telecom Italia.

PIERFRANCESCO MARAN

Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Green Areas and Agriculture – City of Milan

Born in 1980 in Milan, he has a degree in Political Science and has worked as a consultant. He was Councillor in the 3rd administrative area of Milan and City Councillor of Milan. From 2011 to 2016 he has been Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Environment, Subways, Public water and Energy. Among the policies he introduced, Area C and the development of car sharing have been the most relevant. In 2016 he has been reelected and he is currentily the Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning, Green Areas and Agriculture, where he’s working on the regeneration of seven abandoned railway stations in Milan, which is one of the most important urban projects in Europe, in addition to the development of green and rural areas in the city.

Pierre is CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle Italy and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Since joining JLL Italy in 2001 he has been driving the growth of the company initially focusing on the Agency and Corporate Solutions business to then taking the lead of the Investment business, as well as of the Advisory and Development Services. Roberto Mannozzi, is the Chief Financial Officer of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS), where he is in charge of the administration, budget, control and tax process for all the FS Group.

He started his professional carrier in 1983 at KPMG (then Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.), becoming audit partner for Rome office in 1998. Then he joined FS Group and in 2000, before the current position of CFO of the Holding Company, he assumed the responsibility of CFO for Trenitalia (at that time the Group newly established the rail transport company).

For his broad experience in business management, he is member of several boards of Group subsidiaries, both national and international, such as, among others, Chairman of Mercitalia Logistics and of Netinera Deutschland Gmbh, board member in Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Turin Sas, as well as in Eurofer. He is also member of the Supervisory board of OIC (the Italian accounting standard setting Committee).

Since 2016 he is Chairman of ANDAF, (Associazione Nazionale Direttori Amministrativi e Finanziari), the Italian association of chief financial officers, associate in IAFEI (International Association of Financial Executives Institutes).

ANDAF, founded in 1968, has more than 1.600 members to whom offers a wealth of research and professional development activities, seminars and roundtables as well as technical events. The association is organized through 12 local sections and has 6 distinct committees dedicated to specific technical matters related to the CFO profession.

Mattia Mastroianni, class of 1973, after earning a degree in Economics, he began his career at KPMG, moving on to Comit in Piazza Scala in 2000 and later to Intesa Sanpaolo, where he honed his Corporate and Investment Banking skills, performing management roles in Italy and abroad, including Head of Special Situations, Regional Director for Central-South Italy, and Head of Industry.

Corrado Passera was born in Como, Italy, into a family of entrepreneurs. Following a degree in business administration from Bocconi University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, he began his career at McKinsey. Inspired by innovation and challenge, his career path took him from Olivetti to Poste Italiane S.p.A., Intesa Sanpaolo and the Italian Government. At Olivetti, he was challenged by the shift from traditional IT to ICT, which led to two extremely successful start-ups: Omnitel and Infostrada.

At Poste Italiane, between 1998 and 2002, he succeeded in transforming an inefficient public entity into a modern postal service provider, and one of the most successful postal banks worldwide. The creation of Poste Vita, which then gained national leadership, dates to this time. In the banking sector – where he served first as CEO of Ambroveneto, then of Banca Intesa and finally of Intesa Sanpaolo – he helped build one of the most solid European banks.

Among the startup worth mentioning at the time, there was Banca Prossima. Banca Prossima is a bank dedicated to social entrepreneurship and impactful financing and remains one of the most effective models of its kind worldwide. As the Minister of Economic Development, Corrado introduced start-up-friendly legislation, revolutionising the incentive to innovate. In 2018, he launched a bank start-up via Spaxs, the largest special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in Europe, with deposits of €600 million. The objective was to create a new “paradigm bank” specialising in SMEs that face challenges in accessing loans, as well as digital and mobile banking services for SMEs and families. The new bank illimity, of which he is CEO, is operational and has been listed on the Borsa Italiana MTA market March, 5th 2019. Corrado is married to Giovanna and they have five children: Sofia, Luigi, Luce, Giovanni and Eugenia.

Marco Plazzotta is the Head of Real Estate South Europe at Credit Suisse.

Prior to joining Credit Suisse, from 2014 he was in charge at Poste Vita, the life insurance company of Gruppo Poste Italiane leader in the Italian life insurance market, with the aim to ensure investments in line with corporate real estate strategies. He is also overseeing the entire real estate portfolio of Poste Italiane Group as Project Leader of special project.

Prior to Poste Vita, he worked for ten years at Allianz S.p.A. as Head of Real Estate Asset Management.  He was in charge of managing the whole real estate portfolio of the Group in Italy and to oversee Southern European market and branches. He was also responsible for investment, portfolio and asset management activities. In addition he was Executive Vice President of CityLife spa, one of the largest re-development site in Italy.

Past experience as managing director in an Italian company and as partner in an investment advisory company founded jointly with other professionals, specialized in real estate.

Marco studied Economics and Finance in Milan at Università Cattolica.

Massimo Roj graduated in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1986.
After having worked for internationally renowned design firms, in 1994 he founded Progetto CMR in Milan, today the Italian leading integrated design firm and listed among the World’s Top 100 Architectural firms according to the BD World Architecture chart.
Along his well-established professional career, he has gained significant experience both in Italy and abroad on urban regeneration, architectural design and space optimization for both private and public sector clients, applying innovative design and technological solutions and promoting a sustainable approach from an environmental, social and economic point of view.
He regularly joins international conferences and meetings on architecture and sustainability. Amongst his recent works: “Design on Human Scale”, “Workspace/Workscape. I nuovi scenari dell’ufficio”, “WorkWideWords. Le parole del progetto”, “Less Ego More Eco – Towards shared sustainability”.

He is Visiting Professor at Tianjin University and at Beijing Jiaotong University. Since 2017 he is Ambassador of Italian Design in the world, nominated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Umberto, after professional experiences in a primary European bank and in another consulting firm, joined the FSI team of Deloitte Financial Advisory in 2008 and became Partner in 2016. Within the FSI industry Umberto has gained a strong experience in managing domestic and cross border M&A transactions. Since 2012 he is part of Deloitte European team dedicated to portfolio advisory services that supports banks and financial institutions in the disposal of their non-core and non-performing asset. With over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, Stefano began his career at Banca Commerciale Italiana in 1990.

Born in the vibrant Emilia Region, Gian Luca graduates with honors in Economic Studies at the University of Bologna, and then starts off his career back in 1989 in the banking business at Banca Commerciale Italiana (now Banca Intesa), remaining for two years.

For the following 4 years, he joins the Ferruzzi Finanziaria/Montedison where he is in charge of planning and control. Since 1994, Santi takes on the managing role of Planning&Control and M&A with responsibility for the Investor Relations in Rolo Banca (now Unicredit).

Starting from 1999 until 2003, Gian Luca is the head of Planning&Control and Investor Relations first in Banca Popolare di Novara and later in Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara, where he performs M&A operations for the bank, taking care of the industrial plan and control.

Between 2003 and 2010, he joins first Banca Antonveneta-ABN Amro, as Corporate Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Strategy and Development/Equity Investments, and later Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, as Head of Planning&Control and Special Projects.

Davide is a Senior Partner at Prometeia since 2015. Since 2018 he has been Chief Executive Officer of Prometeia Advisor SIM, where he has also been General Manager since 2006. He is a graduate with honours in Statistical and Economic Science from the University of Bologna. He coordinates a team of professionals involved in the development of consultancy projects in the area of investment and brokerage for over sixty institutional investors. Since July 2017, Maurizio Tamagnini is the Chief Executive Officer of FSI, the General Partner of FSI Mid-Market Growth Equity fund with commitments of approx. €1.4 billion.

Panfilo has 40 years’ experience in financial services in London.

Prior to Tages, Panfilo was Vice Chairman of Citi Europe (2008) and member of the European OPCO and of Citi Advisory Board. Simone is head of Investment Grade and FICC Derivatives for financial institutions and corporates within the Investment BankingDivision (IBD) in London, where he also oversees the Structured Finance business. Simone joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst on the Mortgage and Principal Finance desk. In 1999, he moved to the FICC Derivatives Marketing team, and in 2001, he joined the Structured Solutions Group where he was responsible for southern Europe. In 2003, Simone was named co-head of theEuropean Corporate Derivative Marketingteam within IBD. In 2007, he was named head of financing for the Financial Institutions Group and assumed his current role in 2013. Simone was named managing director in 2005 and partner in 2010. Simone earned a degree in economics from the Catholic University of Milano in 1995. In 1996, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the London School of Economics, where he earned an MSc in Finance and Economics.
